Hi, sorry for the many posts. I am picking my car up this week. What do you all think of the extended warranty? I'm not sure about getting one, I haven't even checked the prices as of yet. Also, if anyone can get an x plan number, my brother is asking for one, I have gotten him into mustangs now. I should say back into, he is kicking himself for selling his 64 convertable. It was really nice, it ended up in england, his wife thinks a studio bought it.
Anyway, any advice?

if you plan to have the car for a long time, its a good idea. if you plan to only have the car for 2-4 years like most americans, then dont get it. i bought one for mine, i plan on keeping it a while!!!

I think u can go to the ford site and look it up if u have a new vin. when I got mine I went and looked at the extended and it was about $2500 which imo sounds steep. Any whoot the mustangs look real easy to work on.

My wifes car (toy) we bought a service plan and extended plan.

Also keep in mind your plans for keeping the vehicle stock or modifying it. Do you really want to risk something going wrong, then taking the time to pull off parts in order to not get hassled in the warranty claim process? If you want to mod, forgo the extended plan, and at 36,001 start with the building!:D

Extended Warranty

Bought a 2006 GT My A plan price on the Warranty was $950.00 well worth
it if you keep it for a while if not you can tranfer it over to a buyer when you
sell it,making it a good selling point.:nice:

The extended warranty applies to much more than just what you can injure with your mods (and more than is covered by the factory warranty). If my power seats break, what does a CAI have to do with it? Mods do not always mean that you can't take your car in, it really depends on the dealership. Remember, Ford will pay the delearship to do the work...

That being said, I am sure that there are horror stories of people with relatively benign mods being denied all kinds of service.

I think I paid $700 for the 60K/6 year extended. If it fixes ANYTHING at all on the car it paid for itself... Just my .02

It's been my past experience that the extended warantee is not worth the cost. Bought it with my 89 Ranger, it was like an extra 700-something dollars if I recall. Had a $25 per visit deductable. Brought the Ranger in maybe 3-4 times, but each time I waited till there were at least 3-4 things to fix ( all minor) Sure as hell didn't get my money's worth. When I bought the 95 E150 van, I didn't get the warantee. Had the van for 10 years now and the only major thing that's required bringing it to the dealer was two years ago when the speedo went out. Before that, only parts I've replaced were brakes. For sure would have wasted money with an extended warantee on it. Now with the 06 Stang, I have also forgone the warantee, and based on past experience, both Ford and the aftermarket will bug me to death trying to sell me one for the next few years. I'll wait to see if and what problems I have (if any), till the factory warantee runs out, and only then decide whether to buy an extended warantee.
