EZ Wiring Harness Rewire

Has anybody used EZ Wiring to rewire their entire car? And If So where do you start and how do you wire up the ignition and such? Would it be wise to put the new wires into the stock plugs the way they are with the original wires or would it be ok just to cut them off and put the new wires to the old wires going to the plugs (ex: Headlights, taillights etc.). If the first option is the best, how do you get the old wires out and what would you need to put the new wires into the plugs. Please any feedback would be greatly appreciated. This is going to be in a 1973 Mach 1 Mustang.

In your place I'd have the harness rebuilt. If it's wasted, not repairable (you'd be surprised what can be fixed) you could just adapt a new 71-72 harness. I just can't get interested in an aftermarket harness, too much cutting and splicing involved, it would make me feel like I was making it from scratch. New repro harness just pops in with a few hours' work, no cutting or splicing. Now, to use it on a 73, you might have to modify the parking light sockets, but the rest is already done.

if oyu are going to use the EZ wire harness, then the first thing you want to do is determine just where you want the fuse box to be. once that is located, you can start running the wires. each wire is lettered to indicate where it goes, IE right rear turn signal/brake, tail lights, etc. they do this about every six inches along the wire so you can not only run the wire to where it needs to be, but it also makes troubleshooting easier down the road. as for using the factory sockets and plugs, that is not a bad way to go if replacements are not available.

Its the mini fuse box so I figured close to where it was to start with. lol

not a bad choice, but dont forget that they give you much longer wires than you need for a reason. you might want to consider putting it where it si easily accessible so that when you need to check or change out a fuse you are not laying down on your back, head in the foot well, with the blood running to your head while trying to figure out why something isnt working.

Why does it have multiple AC compressor wires and such? and do I just pick one and run it to the ac compressor or do all the wires like taht need to be used? and just not use the ones like Power windows and power locks and such at all. Speaking of Power windows and power locks where can you get stuff like that that I could add without taking away from value. Stuff that would be factory settings. Also, apparently theres a seat belt buzzer, what could i use to wire that back up?

Is there enough wire to run taillights and headlights up/down their respected sides of the car? I figured that would look a little bit cleaner instead of running it all the way across the front of the car.

Well I started the rewire today and got the rear end complete. Maybe If I keep it up I can get a section done every day. Wish me luck.

some of those extra wires run to the switches and others to the load. not having the harness in my hand i cant tell you exactly what wires go where. as for the seat belt buzzer, i dont know, but personally i would eliminate it, but that would be my choice. you might get a hold of a wiring diagram for your car and figure out how the buzzer circuit runs, and duplicate it with the new harness. as for power windows and door locks, most any mustang supplier will have the kits you can buy, i like national parts depot, virginia classic mustang, and autokrafters.

you should have enough extra wire to run the harness the way you want.

I would attempt to reuse original connectors if you can. Most of them have little clips on one side or the other and you can buy replacement pins. you solder or crimp the pings to the new wire and push them back into the stock connector.
