I have trickflow upper and lower. Stock heads and valve train. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and my waterpump **** it. So i am replacing it. I have a f-cam i was going to wait until i put on my vortech before i installed it. But can i install it right now with everything else being stock. Or do i need springs and rockers before i can put it in. I just figured since everything is apart. I might as well just do it now.

Thanks

You will need new springs in order for it to be worth it. I believe the stock springs are about binding at .500 lift and do not have enough pressure to keep the valves from floating. Even if it did work, your springs would wear out a lot faster. I would just wait until you can change the springs as well.

Yes you would need new springs, but you wont benifit from a cam until the heads are worked or you put aftermarkets on.

Awesome. thanks guys. I know a buddy running a F-cam with stock heads and valvetrain and a supercharger. Should he be worried?

I only went with a F-cam because one of the guys on here sold me. trickflow upper/lower, 42lb'er, sn95 rails, f-cam, vortech and Ford racing x302 heads with valves and springs and 1.7's.

Using an increased lift/duration cam will work against your valves more so.

These are the springs that summit racing has for their valve springs for the F-cam:

Here is more detailed specs on the F cam in case you were curious:

Cam - Duration @ .050" - Adv. Duration - Valve Lift - Lobe Lift - LSA - Int./Exh. Centerline - Powerband

F303 - 226*/226* - 288*/288* - .512"/.512" - .320"/.320" - 114* - 109*/119* - 2,800-6,000 RPM

1.6 Rocker Ratio
Intake Opening: 4* BTDC
Intake Closing: 42* ABDC
Exhaust Opening: 52* BBDC
Exhaust Closing: 6* BTDC

Didnt know you were planning on swapping out the heads, sounds like you'll be fine to me now. Just check on the lift for those springs that come on the heads, then use the info 5spd GT gave you. If all checks out well....put it together and make some good power! Dont let ANYone tell you that F303's are junk either.
