F303 Cam installed

nope I've done it in the car.
I have the f cam in my lx.
I'm putting another in a motor I'm building now.
That 5.0 is in a mazda B2200 pickup. I'm able to get the cam swaped with the engine in place with it also.

It wasn't 2 hard to do in my lx just had to make plenty of room to slide out the old one and put the new one in without beating the hell out of it.

Not impressed with the F, or the E for that matter... Too much lope, not enough torque. E doesn't start making power until 2500, F till 3k. You just gave up half your RPM band to a poor performing cam. God forgive you if you get caught in rush hour traffic with a F and try to idle even with 3.73's... Been there, never again.

He's carbed Jamie - and they do seem to work a bit better in that application. I too, however, pulled my E and put a custom cam in to restore my lost bottom end. We picked up 40-80 ft-lbs. of torque from idle to 3000 rpm when we got rid of the E.

Fox#1 - glad you're happy with the F - your opinion is the only one that really matters for your car.

yeah the f and e cams work way better in carb setups.
I didn't use eather on the efi setup.
So I can't say eather way how that works.
I ran a basicly stock 90 lx running a E cam with the efi and I walked right by him.
His idle sound did sound alot better but if it causes that much loss of power it prob wouldn't be a good upgrade for a stock motor.

Ranchero50, The half of the rpm band that you give up is the half that your not gonna be using when your racing your car anyway. Rarely would you be under 3000 rpm when racing. Except for an automatic with a stock / near stock converter. But yea putting any bigger cam in a otherwise stock 5.0 is a bad idea, it will take away bottem end (which is all a stock 5.0 has going for it) and the heads and intake wont suport it at higher rpm. It depends on what you are building your motor for, F-303 is more of an rpm cam. It likes to be turned high. So you need heads, intake and carb that compliment it. I have the F cam in my 88 w/ ported windsor jr's, a single plane intake and a 750 d/p.. The motor pulls hard to about 6700 rpm.. When Im racing my motor never sees anything under 4000 rpm. Natural Aspirated motors make more power if thier built with a powerband higher up in the rpms.
