Ranchero50, The half of the rpm band that you give up is the half that your not gonna be using when your racing your car anyway. Rarely would you be under 3000 rpm when racing. Except for an automatic with a stock / near stock converter. But yea putting any bigger cam in a otherwise stock 5.0 is a bad idea, it will take away bottem end (which is all a stock 5.0 has going for it) and the heads and intake wont suport it at higher rpm. It depends on what you are building your motor for, F-303 is more of an rpm cam. It likes to be turned high. So you need heads, intake and carb that compliment it. I have the F cam in my 88 w/ ported windsor jr's, a single plane intake and a 750 d/p.. The motor pulls hard to about 6700 rpm.. When Im racing my motor never sees anything under 4000 rpm. Natural Aspirated motors make more power if thier built with a powerband higher up in the rpms.
