Any pointers on installing the face gage overlay? I got this one

Take a picture of your gauges (with your car on) before you install the new ones.

if ur taking the needles off, when ur putting them back on, turn the car on and then put the needles on in their correct spots that they need to go (while referring to ur pics u took earlier). easiest way to do tach and speedo gauge is use the digital readout to place it on. To do the speedo needle, i just drove w/ the digital readout, hit cruise control at 50 and stuck it on. my speedo is dead on now!

If they have large holes on the gauges, slide them over the needles (i.e. SpeedHut) if they don't have the larger holes than as stated before, take a picture of them WHILE the car is running.

Do i need to completely remove the cluster to do the overlay, or is it just easier that way?

yes, but it is really easy. just take ur time and dont rush anything on the install. the guage install in actually mechanically easy, but time consuming and tedious (sp?)

My only suggestion would be to have a magnetic tool pick up deal for working on cars. You can get one at any auto part store. There are 6 screws that hold the cluster in place and if you drop one of the screws down in the dash, you may as well consider it lost. With the magnet, you can put it right against the screw so once it's loose the magnet will grab it. Also, it's a tight fit trying to pull the plugs out (2) from the cluster unless you have small hands. Unfortunely I have big hands and had a hard time squeezing my hands in their to release the clips and put them back. Other than, it's cake. Good Luck!!

1) Not all gauge overlays require you to take the needles off. If you can avoid it, you are saving yourself some time.
2) Definitely unplug the harnesses in the back of the cluster to go to a well-lit comfortable area (the kitchen table is very popular) to install the overlays.
3) Use a good amount of two-sided tape. With heat, the overlays may buckle slightly and bind into the needles -- the tape prevents this.
4) Remove the headlight switch (2 screws) to get good access at all of the required wires.
5) Make sure your needles have good clearance. If not, pull up slightly on them with a salad fork.

Done

Just finished the install. Went ok, the head light switch was a _unt to get off and I ended up _ucking it up. It am going to order the UPR knob to replace it. I have not seem it at night but from what I can tell it's not illuminated evenly. Though I can't complain for $40. Thanks for the help.
