I have just purchased a 05 GT that has set for a couple of yrs., when I crank it it starts cutting out around 5000 rpm then the fail safe code appears. Dealer said that the plugs were fouled out so I changed them and now it start cutting out at around 6000 rpm. I have removed all gas and replace with new. need advice badly

What fail safe code?? Anyway..... disconnect battery for 20 minutes then re connect let the PCM get wiped clean from sitting around

Dumb question.how much oil is in it.and coolant.i know the oil will shut it down.my 03 has a fail safe not sure if yours is the same.what codes are u getting or is this what ford says

Did some reading on mine.it only has coolant .it says it shut down your injectors.your vsl rev limiter can also be faulty.1285 and 1299 .85 is cht and 99 leeds to thermostat monitor system

Thanks, found the wires on the MAF pigtail plug were broke inside the protective wrap.
