I was interested in trading my 05 v6 for a 06gt. The price on the 06 was only 20,999. With only 16,000 miles on the car, it seems like a pretty good deal.
The only problem is that the dealer wanted to steal my car in trade. The kelly Blue book trade in value for my car is $15,000. The dealer would only offer me $10,700.Is this the going price, or should I try other dealers?

Print out the trade-in sheet from KBB and tell them this is the price you want or you are walking. There are other dealers that want your business.

Dealers wont give you anything, they are so bold enough to not even offer you what you owe and that is a sad note. The reason is when they take the vehicle from you and it sits on there lot and depreciates even more they just simpy cant make no money. there are many tradeies out there that trade up and pay so much more for a vehicle than its worth due to the low valued trade they trade with.

I traded my 2005 V6 in June. It had 16,000 miles on it and I got $13,500. I would say $10,000 might be a bit low but $15,000, no way. I have seen good used V6s (2005 models) for $13,000 and $14,000 on lots. Heck you can get a new 2007 for $19,000.
I would say $11,000 or so would probably be about right from what I have seen. Remember, dealers are going to resell your car. They are going to give you wholesale. You should be able to get another $2,000 if you sell it yourself and don't mind that hassle.

I just checked NADA. That site lists $12,825 for trade-in value.

$12,000 - $12,500 and remember the resale of used cars and vehicle maintenance and service is where dealers make the most $.

For your V6 they will offer you $10,000 and sell it for $12,500. However, if they already have a good amount of V6s on the lot or fleet resales (like rentals) that will affect the price they give you - Supply and Demand.
