fairlane motor in early mustangs?

hey guys, i have a 64.5 mustang. looks like its built in june. the engine casting number has an O for the third digit. did the early mustangs use some engines designated for fairlanes?

If it's a 260 No, If it's a 289 possibly. Could it have been swapped at some point in it's life, very likely unless you are the original owner or know the history.

Most certainly yes. The V8 Mustangs used many Fairlane components, while the I6 Mustangs used many Falcon components.
