Hey guys while I went to work last night. My wife and best friend took my car to get my 3:73's put in and they told me that it was overheating bad! and the guy that was going to work on it said that the fan wasn't working. I heard of a recall that had something to do with the fan but not sure about it. I haven't got a chance to look at it yet being that it's in the guys shop for a few days. I'm going to check the obvious thing first like check the fuse but I want to know if you all had this type of problem.

There are myriad reasons for the fan to not work. Your low speed should have come on first, and it's generally the high speed circuit which overheats.

As you noted, check the fuses, power to the fan (both speeds), try turning on the AC to see if the fan comes on, etc.

General specs: Low comes on at around 208*F. High comes on at ~228*F or with AC.

You will likely want to run manual fan switches once the issue is sorted out and the system is checked over. That way if something like this happens again, a switch can be flipped for manual fan override.

In the shop if they have the car idling, a huge box fan in front of the car can help keep it cool.

Once you know more, post up and we can get you fixed up. The fan circuit is pretty complex so shotgunning the whole thing isnt practical.

Good luck.

When my fan refused to come on the problem ended up being the ECT sensor, changed it out and my fan has been operating properly again. It was a very easy fix. If you have a code scanner scan the codes, this will make the car kick the low speed and high speed fan on when performing the test, if the fan comes on when doing this there is a pretty good chance the problem is the ECT sensor.

Here's a link on how to install manual fan switches: http://www.mustang-tech.org/wiki/94-95_Mustangs_Cooling_Fans
