My wife surprised me this year for Father's day by having some 4.10 gears installed in my 86 coupe. She can not drive a 5 speed, so she had the car delivered to the speed shop, installed the gears and got the car back home before I got home from work. She did this on Wednesday and I had no idea until this evening. I found some finger prints on the side glass and noticed the emergency brake was not engaged. She had hoped that I would not drive the car until Sunday, but I started asking too many questions so she told me this evening.

Pretty sweet gift, even better that she pulled one over on the old man.

Yep, It is great!!! pulls really hard. I had the original 2.73 gears in the car before; it's night and day. The guy who installed them is a buddy of mine. I guess my rear axles are worn pretty bad, so they need to be replaced. He did not replace them while the car was in the shop because my wife wanted the car home before I got home from work.

Since I have to replace the rear axles. I was thinking about going 5 lug. Not sure what rims I should go with??

Lets see, a white 4 eye notch. What wheels? 17" Pony R's would be nice if you want 17's. If you want 18's, hard to beat some silver saleens.

I have way too many "I completely understand" coments to make but will respectively hold back. All I will say is "I feel your pain".
I'd hate to see the nice fathers day thread turn into a wife bashing celebration!
