Looking for ideas for places to drive the stang in the New England area where you get a great view and might get to use the car a bit (read that as "no crowds"). I hit the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire almost every year, highly recommend it. Any one have other roads that are similar and have resturants and hotels available for extended weekends ?

The Kancamagus Highway, aka RT112, goes from Lincoln to the North Conway area. There are plenty of resturants and hotels on both ends of the highway with a winding road through the white mountians connecting the two towns. It's not long, maybe 45 minutes to an hour actual driving, there are some side roads off it worth checking out. On the actual Kancamagus Highway there are a few places to pull over and have a picinic and snap some photos of the mountians, obviously a weekday evening just before sunset or just after sunrise is best because the traffic is light and the views are spectacular.

I've heard quite a bit of good things about the Kanc from a bunch of my friends that used to go partying for the 4th of July weekend up there. I was told bring a camera, the car, your girlfriend and some cash and you could potentially have a great weekend or even day trip.
I plan on bringing the LX up there one day this spring.

Yea, me 2. We should all head up in the spring when the snow clears out and the weather looks better.
