Got some crap in the mail today! Can't wait to get it all put on. I still haven't decided on mufflers. I'm gonna get my brother's camera and record a video before & after.

Another question about longtubes

I have been interested in installing longtube headers as well, but I have held off because I am concerned about my car not passing emissions here in Chicago. Is it true that longtube headers will usually cause cars to fail emissions?

If so, is there a temporary tuning method that I can use to adjust my car's computer or timing or something so that the car will pass with longtubes installed? I could then adjust it back after the emissions test.

Anybody?

I passed emmisions last saturday with longtubes and a o/r x. They didnt even look under my car. Im in Cook county also.

Thats pretty good. The thing that really makes you pass is having cats or not. I figure when inspection time comes....if I can't get it to pass visual inspection anywhere....I might have to break down and buy a shorty H pipe with cats.

Yeah, my car is bone stock. These will be the first mods ever put on this car. Shorties are just a waste of money IMO. If I wasn't going with longtubes...I'd just leave the stock headers and get an O/R X.

You managed to pass emissions testing with NO CATS?! How did you do that? Did you slip the guy a $20 or something? Seriously though, if you can pass comfortably in Chicago with longtubes on, then maybe I should give them a shot. Are the emissions requirements for Cook County pretty low or something? I live in McHenry County (Crystal Lake).

How much would a good header install cost?
