Hey guys..

What causes this gap?..you think a body shop can fix it?..also can it be that I jacked up the car wrong and it shifted the sheet metal!.Looks ugly! Thanks

Looks like the fender has to be adjusted back some. Sometimes when the door hinges wear it causes that but that fender is pretty far away from the windshield even. Was the car ever apart or wrecked before ??

Not that I know of...why you think its a bent frame. I got it inspected last year and its straight.

No not that anything is bent, but alot of times when things go back together they can sometimes move things futher up then they are supposed to be. My '92 GT has the exact same gaps but it was in a light front end accident and that is where they lined everything up for some reason after it was fixed. It hasnt bothered me enought to re-align everything.

Also check to make sure it wasnt jacked where the fender bolts to the rocker panels. That can do it too but yours really seems like the fender. Is the other side the same way ??

no the other side is perfect. When I bought the car it was fine. But then I noticed the gap after I must have jacked up the car like i said. I tried to fix it but I made it worse. I unscrewed the fender bolts and I heard a pop..like it shifted out of place!..can't seem to realine it now..you think an experienced body shop can adjust it?...Thanks

My door sits in further than my fender does on my 92 and the service manual says to put shims behind the door hinges to push it out to match with the fender.

Oh I see now. You can fix it yourself if you know what you are doing but a body shop should have no problem realigning it. Might cost you $50 or something.

I've got the exact same problem. Some clown jacked the car up in the wrong spot. Take a look under the car and see if the spot where the 2 pieces of metal are spot welded together. If they are bent, you probably have the fender bent a bit. I'm going to get a body shop to fix mine to make sure its done right.

There is a local tire shop that is very busy and near an intersection, so when the light is red I get to watch those guys just throw jacks under the rocker panels of peoples expensive cars and jack the piss out of them! I ALWAYS take my wheels and tires in to them and I remove and install them on my vehicles!
