Fender Sound Absorber

I am putting my driver's side fender back on this weekend. Is there any reason to put the fender sound absorber back on? Will it hurt anything if it is left off? Any help would be appreciated.

no its not needed. but itdoes help kep down some of the noise and vibration (obviously) i have left them off before and notice everything seemed to rattle alot.

What exactly is it?
I just replaced both of my fenders and didnt see anything inside them.

Are you talking about the inner fender liners? The plastic parts that close the wheel wells out from the engine bay? I would leave those in unless it's a track only car that never sees rain.
