Few body work questions.

I have been thinking about priming some of my body peices to keep them from rusting like the front fenders, I have them sanded smooth but was wondering if I should spray paint primer them. IM going to have it painted eventually by the shop so should I leave them bare? Also, the top of the fender has some small pitting in the metal, how would I smooth this out, with bondo? I'd like to do as much as possible but I have never done body work before.

well IMO there are two roads you can take spray good cheap primer just to keep them from rusting that will be sanded down by body shop if there doing all the prep work etc.. or coat it with a rust preventative, Oil works good and easy to clean off also a product called Jasco little more expensive but it converts Light to moderate rust to zinc phosphate then to a white powder you sand off when ready for paint, either way the parts wont rust

around here leaving parts bare a few days is like throwing all that hard work of preping it down the drain with it being so humid.

Rattle can primer absorbs moisture and wont prevent rust, youd be better off with a cheap can of any color aerosol paint. Many restorers just coat them with a phosphate coating like the above poster suggested and leave them bare, they wont rust.

Definately do not use oil. You will find out after the paint work how bad of an idea that is if the body shop didnt get it all taken off.
