I cant stand having a slow car anymore so im thinking of getting an NX setup. The NX plate kit is like $90 more than the regular wet kit. Is it worth it? Do the NX kits come with a wot switch or are they sold separately?

yeah i would do the plate and it does come with a WOT switch. NX is the best and will give you that power you want.

Stick with NX or Zex. I bought the zex kit cause its TPS controlled, not WOT. Just read everything you can about nitrous before purchasing anything. I originally got a dry kit, then sold that on ebay, lost 150 bucks from it, and bought a wet kit. So, moral of the story, do research, really understand the consequences of what you are getting...other than a load of o-so-fun HP for a very low cost

Any of you guys running without a tune? I know i should have my a/f checked but just wondering if i'll be alright for a little while

You can pull it off for a while with a wet kit, but not with a dry kit.

you don't NEED a tune with a wet kit if your running a 100 shot w/ stock timing. I was running a 125 shot w/ 7 degrees base timing on before I got a tune, now I'm 150. Now, what's so much better about a plate system. It still has to go through all the runners like a regular nitrous kit does right?

2 years on my N0S 5116 dry kit, 125 and 150 shot..............no tune. 11.2 A/F ratio.

Just check your plugs and use 92> Octane. Wet or dry, doesn't matter. I like dry, more simple and you can only make soo much power on a stock block mod motor.

I still kind of want to do a dry kit for the same reasons you mentioned. Is that the only dry kit for our cars? And how does the computer know to add fuel or does it not need to with a 100 or 125 shot?/

Dont mean to thread jack but got a couple questions myself. I've got a 96 GT with 83K miles on it. Heads and intake are pretty much brand new though. Is it safe to run 100 shot of nitrous on stock internals on a car with 83K miles on it? Also how much would a safe nitrous kit cost me? I'm pretty paranoid about nitrous so if I was to do it I would want all the safety features just wondering how much that would run me?

I was just checking out the instructions for the NOS 5116 dry kit, I like that it comes with a fuel pressure safety switch and a window switch. But on this page it says its a plate kit http://www.holley.com/types.asp?type=170, and in the instructions i got from the site show a picture of a nossle and describe it as a nossle. Is it a plate system or not?

The 5116 kit from NOS and the Edelbrock kit for 99> GT's are the only DRY kits that I know of on the market for the Modular Cars.

The 5116 kit is in fact a NOZZLE system, there is NO PLATE, unless they updated from which I doubt.

The 5116 kit adds fuel by splicing into the fuel psi regulator on the driver side fuel rail. It is a little black box that spikes WOT fuel pressure from the OE 40-42psi, to 60-62psi, compensating for the N20.

The Edelbrock kit comes with a secondary fuel pump that is used/activated when the nitrous is "turned on" or injected.

The difference between a WET and DRY n20 kit is by what is being injected into the car. A dry kit is only injecting nitrous into the motor, and relies on the cars fuel injectors to add the extra fuel(either by messing with the MAF, or a "box" like in the 5116 kit).

A WET kit uses a "Y" shaped nozzle that accepts a fuel line and an N20 line, and nitrous and fuel are mixed together at that point and are injected into the motor. Requiring an N20 solenoid, and a fuel solenoid.

OK so i found out the 5116 kit is for 96-98 gt's and the 5171 kit is for 99-02 gt's. Does anyone know if NOS makes the dry system with a plate now?

That is NOT CORRECT.

If you look at the HOLLEY link you posted, the 5116 instructions say for 99> SOHC GT's, and it is a DRY KIT and uses a nozzle.

If you are dead set on a "plate" system......just buy NX's 2valve "plate", and use it, instead of the blue NOS fan spray nozzle. However, with that plate, I believe you will hafto "cap" one end of the plate, as it is made for one N20 hose, and one FUEL hose. There also may be some ill-effects to running a dry shot on a part that is made to atomize nitrous AND FUEL. Don't complicate things man......keep it simple.

The only reason i was thinking the 5116 kit was for 96-98 cars was because of the jegs site. I dont think the holley site is correct because on on eof the other kits for a 4.6 the instructions are for a 5.0. I wouldnt use a NX plate for a NOS dry kit, i think that would just be looking for trouble
