Hello all,
You guys have an awesome forum here. I've spent hours reading stuff (doesn't make the g/f too thrilled!) but now I know more about my mustang. Both of my older brothers had mustangs, one had an 88 GT and the other had a 91 GT and 92 LX 5.0. They got me started on mustangs way back when...
A few weeks ago I bought a '96 GT vert 5spd w/80k miles on it. The lady bought it brand new and had a folder full of maintenance records from the day she bought it. She babied it majorly! I know that '96 wasn't the best year for the stang, but hey I love the body style and the price was right. I have a few questions.

1) The cruise control doesn't work. I've checked all the fuses, none blown. The buttons feel normal so I think they're alright. Any suggestions?
2) Sometimes when I'm letting out the clutch in reverse, it pops out of gear. I'm pretty sure it's all the way in gear when it happens so I'm wondering what's going on.

Other than those issues, the car runs like it's brand new. Thank you for your advice! I'll probably be asking some more questions in the future!

Hah, I used to just hit buttons until something I wanted finally happened. It's a pain to turn on the dome light in the middle of the night doing 75.

For your reverse issue, try pulling up on your clutch pedal firmly, until you hear a click or three, then mash it down a few times, and see if helps.

Yeah I'm positive that I'm pushing the right buttons. I took the steering column apart and looked for bad wiring, but didn't come up with any?!?! Oh well, not that big a deal. Thanks for the advice.

First off I have to say damn, thats clean! im loving the color! Rio Red right? anyways, the cruise control issue, make sure all your vacuum lines are good..and like the rest said make sure you are using the buttons right....My friend taught me how to use mine!

Press On
Press Set Accel then hold it to desired speed
Press On again and your set
and to turn it off
Press off button

Theres some other features i havent used yet. like "Coast"

Yeah, I've got a '02 Civic as well as the stang and it's nice to know that I can actually accelerate up hills now! With the civic it just makes more noise and barely maintains speed:rlaugh: Anyhow, thanks for all of your help. I will check out the clutch/brake wires and see what's up with them. Later on,
steve
