few questions - new [to me] '93 here.

I will have to say that the red notch looks sick! Heres the problem though. That notch has a theme....big hood (probably for a big motor), roll cage, BIG slicks & skinnies, and a chute! that car's looks are all part of a theme or they are out of necessity. Either way they are put together on purpose. You cant throw a 6" hood on a stock ride height vert rocking chrome cobra r's...it just wont look right. The car looks really clean right now. I consider myself a huge mustang enthusiast and i like to see car's done right. Myself along with many others here are fans of go before show...and putting a 6" hood on a stock car not only draws negative attention to yourself from the Fuzz, but when you get raped on the highway by a nissan altima...you're gonna look like a tool. But to each his own i guess

I for one im not a foremost fan of verts to begin with, but that car is sharp just the way it sits. a huge cowl hood will totally ruin the clean lines of the car and look out of place. it works better on the red notch because it has the full drag car theme going, but on a basic GT with 4 lug wheels and 4x4 ride height, it will look quite odd. combine that with a cage and loud exhaust, it will be the ultimate poser car. looks wickedly fast but is actually the slowest mustang of the generation. I remember seeing an IROC camaro at the track one night that was LOUDDDDDDD but running mid 14's. hearing that thing do a burnout i thought the world was coming to an end, and he ended up being smoked by a gutted civic hatchback. everyone was laughing at him. people always say that they do things only to suit themselves and no one else, but few people can actually execute things that are out of the norm and resist the influence of the mainstream. if you are one of the few who can make your car look that way and not care about feedback or anything that comes with it, then more power to you

you are right. I will agree that what you say makes sense... and for that, perhaps the 6" would be too overkill. I'd still like to do a cowl hood, since I really like the way they look... my eventual intent is to get big tires for the back, and skinnies on the front, cause I like the "drag" look - my car sits as it is, cause I bought it this way. (which I believe it looks pretty decent, considering the wheels and stuff) - but my hope is to turn it into something more wild. My father has been a mechanic all my life, and I have grown up in shops, and intend on building a hot engine for it... just using it as a commuter for now.

I hate the kids with subarus and hondas and stuff SO much, that my intent would be to have them pull next to me, and hear the car, see it and not even wanna try.... I'm almost 30 years old, I have no need to go out street racing, (even though its fun) - I would rather just look good, sound good, and have a nice looking modified car I can enjoy. (I figure a big cam, loud pipes, the right wheels and tires will accomplish this)

A) Cowl hoods were made to decrease engine temp. It's not for clearance neccessarily.View attachment 375589

B) Moderation is key. 6"? Unless you've got a Holly double pumper on top of a spacer with a 200 shot it isn't practical. And it's just butt arse ugly View attachment 375591

C) Go with a 4" or below. I have a 3" on my notch and love it, anything larger and I couldn't see outta the window

the main issue is being able to see over it. that hood is way too high for me to use and drive on the street. so i just take the hood off and go

looks cool.... I guess might be too big for my application....

with a lift-off hood, how do they attach in the back???? I know hood pins in the front... I see they are a lot cheaper than a bolt-on.... like half.

I used to have one, you kind of have to rig it using 90 deg bent aluminum or something attached to the firewall or fender.

Unless they make a kit I dunno about
