fiberglass hoods

Mustangs plus gets a lot of heat in here about their hoods, they just sell the ones from Maier Racing though and they clearly print that they are for racing cars not show cars. I have no idea who makes the best hoods but Maier is probably not it. Be prepared to pay significantly more for the best ones though. A freind of mine just bought a high quality one for his 2001 WS6 and it cost over $1,100!

FWIW I've had no problems with my Maier hood for my '67. I even picked it up directly from Maier's shop. All the hinges line up and I use the stock latch. I had to drill two holes to clear the Monte Carlo bar's bolt heads but that's about it. This was about 8 years ago and it's still holding up just fine.

There's a guy on Ebay that goes by "daddysundown" that is near Tulsa, OK that has some hoods on Ebay. I can't vouch for the quality as I haven't seen one in person, but they seem to be nice. I've wanted a '67 Shelby styled hood for my '65, his prices are decent and I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

The best I have been reading about is HO Fibertrends they built the hoods for 95 Cobra R. Quality is second to none. :nice: :nice: :nice:
Do you have a URL, or a phone #?

I'm looking for a new hood, since I'm in just dead love with my Maier peice from Mustangsplus.

I got my hood from Tony Branda, also. It fit great right out of the box and only needed minor work prior to paint. My problem is that I got the all fiberglass hood and it now has a bow in it. I guess leaving the hood up while working on it caused it to sag and I can't get the bow out.

How are the Mustang Depot hoods? How stiff are they? Has anyone's hood sagged or bowed?

I got my 67 Shelby style hood from Mustangs Unlimited. Had no problems with it. All I did was cut the air holes in the scoops as I liked. Fits good. :nice:
