Fill Plug for 8.8 rear

Ok so I blew my rear on saturday at the track. Long story short got the car home, got the new rear in tonight. Problem is I went to go put fluid in and I can't get the fill plug out. It looks like a simple 3/8 drive fitting should go in there and turn the plug out. I can't get the extention deep enough in the plug to get any torque on it. Is there another tool I should be using? Any suggestions?

no a 3/8 extention (sp?) is what i use. try tapping the back of the extention with a hammer while you try to work the into the 3/8 hole

The best is a extension that the BB is missing to get it all the way in and use a impact.

The hole for the 3/8" drive in the plug may be filled with dirt/debris, take a small screw driver and see if you can clean it out.

yeah it is 3/8. just clean the head of the plug out if dirty or tap it in with a hammer.

it will go eventually.
