Ok guys i am at the final stage of my motor and i am pinched for cash....I need oppions on balancer/flywheel. My internals are stock other than some dss pro lites to clear my AFR 185's. can i re-use my stock 50 oz balancer and flywheel???? I dont have the extra cash for a balancer but IMO a 50oz balancer is a 50oz balancer RIGHT???? i am in need of some help.....after 8k dollars and coming up on 2 years i can see the final stretch....also when she gets done it is being trucked to RICHMOND to be put on a motor dyno to be tuned only gonna push 5PSI through her until it is broken in and i am happy with the way it runs.

How high are you going to be revving the motor? A stock balancer doesn't work too good past 6000 rpm.
im not building a high rev motor so i prob wont take it past the 6k mark. ( i stated this to flow tech when they made my heads/cam that i wanted quick/low RPM power)

I think putting all this into a motor you might want to get something good do absorb damaging vibrations. I would get better than stock at least. I have a Romac 50oz SFI 18:1 which I got for about $200 new. You can get a Pioneer for a relativly decent price as well, next best thing. Look under www.adperformance.com under dampeners/balancers.

I'd definatly invest in a good flywheel and balancer. Stock flywheel will work, but i'd spend the money on good stuff like an aluminum sfi flywheel. Do the flywheel first because a balancers a hell of a lot easiert to change out then a flywheel when the engines in the car. Then i'd upgrade to a nice sfi balancer as well. I use a fidenza alum flywheel and a romac light weight balancer. The flywheel comes with weights for 28 and 50 and you'd use neither if you had neutral balance (0).

Wait a minute, let me whore!!! I took a pic of my romac. The only thing I don't like about it is the clearcoat they put on it sucks. It flakes off, as you can see. Most say to then clear it yourself to make it last. Mine has a few surface rust spots which will clean up with a brillo pad, as I have done a few, but then I'll clear it. Oh well, ain't it purdy:

Yes, the spec packages are nice.

Did you get the motor balanced?

ya that looks awesome FRP has a SFI balancer for 299$......looks like a good deal...not after the bling just looking to get the 500 ponys sattled.

$300 for the FMS one, wow. I paid I think it was $220 shipped. I could really tell a difference at higher RPM's. I am going with a stroker on the new motor so I will need a different one. I'll probally sell it soon, I will need to really clean it up because people won't buy it if there is the little knicks and leftover factory clear on it.

where at ??? maybe they uped the price like the alum drive shafts.

That's probally what they are doing. I can't remember just where I got mine, but they are on the internet. The next balancer I get will probally be another romac.
