I Finally did it

I just bought a set of heads out of an ’02 Roush. I have already done the PI Intake swap so I already have a lot of the parts.

So far all I can think of to get is the cylinder head change kit from GEFRacing, which includes all the head bolts, new dipstick, exhaust manifold gaskets and head gaskets.

My concern is, do I need to send my ECU to Tim/get a chip or will my car run ok til I can get a Dyno tune? I would really like to hear from some people who have done the swap.

Your car should run okay without a tune, but get one eventually to make sure that A/F ratio is straight. You might also squeeze some more HP out of a tune.

I have a 02' GT and i have just about all the bolton's you can get and yesterday i just bought a Predator Programmer and a pair of FoxLake Stage2 Ported Heads,and Comp Cam's(XE278AH). Im not doing the Dyno Tune, Dallas Mustang is installing everything for me next week and there just going to use the Programmer which does the same thing as a Dyno Tune.I suggest just buying a programmer it's a lot Cheapier.Thats just me though

December 17th or 18th we will be starting either at my house or Joe's. The party will last all weekend and maybe into the week. Hope to have the heads by early next week, the swap kit should also be here around that time. Just debating on shorties or not.

I know, tell me about it!!! I have been on the fence for so long about this and now that I bought the heads I feel such a weight lifted. Look for numbers by years end.

That's what I wanted to hear, I keep seeing posts about people saying tragic things happen after the swap with no tune. I think they were 99+, that's why I wanted PI swappers input.

Also ordered some shorties since I'm going to have the engine torn down may as well as drop some in.

Yes. But it will be lean as heck! (15:1 to be exact) and will eventually blow up if driven really hard.

Not mine or the ten other ones I have run on the dyno. They all had identical A/F ratio as the stock nonPI stuff. While you are adding performance its not changing things enough to screw up the computer. What other mods did you have when you took it in?

See my sig below. BTW, I was taking the word of the tunner . Do you think the C&L Maff may be the issue.

Also I have to agree, like you said, mine did run like stock after the swap. So, who knows the tunner may be wrong...didn't really get a good impression anyways.

More than likely yes. Read this link it will shed some light on why you dont need an aftermarkey maf on a N/A mustang as a power mod.
