The car is at my local dealer and looks like it might be a bargain. Fairly clean, has JBA headers and exhaust (from what I can tell). the salesman said it was in the shop on an o2 sensor light (?) and the keys were in service so i couldn't look further. The page says auto but it is a 5 speed. It looks like it might have the front struts done but I won't know till next week. Are there any pros and cons for this type of car? Something I should look out for? Also, how does the price compare, anything better out there?

I'm curious as to why they cleaned up the outside, but left the interior and engine bay FILTHY! Otherwise, looks like it should be a pretty good deal. Obviously you'll want to test drive it, and I would also have them throw in an alignment, too. You never know what the previous owner did to lower it, and you wanna make sure it rides right.

+1.

Oh, and tuck those exhaust tips in, too! :barf:

i got my car at anderson. i have bought a lot of cars and i got say they treated me like family. dean the general manager still calls me by name. email christina bennett, if you want her email address just let me know i will pm it to you.
i wouldnt screw with make an offer thing either. my wife just bought an 07 explorer from them, she loved the experience and the the vehicle. very easy to work with. its like an hour drive from my house but well worth it.

The interior is really nasty for the kind of mileage. The engine compartment is too. Was this car in a flood or something?
The price sounds good, but I would ask why it is do dirty and am very curious why it has not been cleaned up.

apparantly they got it so new off the trade in it still had plates on it when I went there. so they had to upload that stuff on autotrader the same day they got it or something. They said it would go through detailing but I insisted on taking a good look at it before detail to tell what kind of condition the car was in. It looked in decent shape

They also had a nearly identical one without spoiler and 30,000 miles. the rear tires were bald and showed signs of donut marks (where it rolls over on the edge:nice: ) I didn't inquire about that one.

Are there any problem areas on these cars I should look for?

I am planning on checking out the dealer next week and seeing what kind of deal they can make me. I would like to let them take cash off the car and put it on a down payment then rape me with a high interest rate for 72 months. Then I'll pay it off!! I can scrounge up enough cash to buy it outright but then I doubt the dealer would be making any money on with. Usually in my friends' experience with dealers, if they cut you a great rate on the vehicle, they make their cash back by bidding low on your trade in (which i won't do) or on sky-high financing. I prefer the latter because I can pay it off within a couple months.

If those are LT headers, I wish them good luck getting that CEL off.

The good news is the previous owner is saving you a lot of money in mods.

The bad news is whether or not the previous owner voided the warranty with those mods. I'm sure that car has a tune. I would have the dealer commit to honoring the remainder of factory warranty regardless of the mods. I would tell them that aspect will make or break the deal.

I'm worried the PO deleted the cats and used simulators or something, making it NOT smog legal. My brother has an 06 he swapped a pypes exhaust with simulators so maybe I can deal with him on that if needed. I thought 05+ exhausts were free-flowing as is from the factory? What a waste of cash for an exhaust. It should've had a whipple instead! ! ! Can the dealer determine if it had a tune on their scan tool, and maybe delete it or find out what was modified?

I thought 05+ exhausts were free-flowing as is from the factory? What a waste of cash for an exhaust.

Parts of the stock exhaust are free flowing and some parts aren't. The exhaust manifolds only have a 2 inch opening where it bolts to the down tube (have to unbolt the downtube to see), and the factory used 2 1/4 inch pieces on both sides of the catalytic converters (easily seen on car). The rest of the exhaust is 2 1/2 inch. They did the same thing on the GT500's. So good gains are made with shorty headers and a change in the pipe with the cat's on it. Mustangs and Fords magazine ran an article last year were they got 9 rwhp and 10lb/ft peak and 10 rwhp and 17 lb/ft at 3000rpm with just BBK headers. So even though Ford likes to claim the exhaust is free flowing 2 1/2 inch it really isn't.

called the first car dealer today. that silver 06, according to the sales manager, has a full exhaust, no cats (which explains the check engine light), a tune, a cold air intake, and according to him, "felt like it had a gear in it." which is sweet for me. But I checked with my employer and with my employee discount and ford's incentives to get BRAND NEW 07's off the lot, my price is $20,116. So they need to do some bargaining to sell me a 2 yr older car with miles and mods done by an unknown PO.
