Looks pretty cool. Should help the gas mileage on that long commute too.

Nice man! What year is that? I'm sure its the same engine I have in my 02 Audi A4. Find out if the timing belt was done.

thanks, gents!

it's an 01 (mk4?), and i bought it from Nacho's (95vert) brother. i didn't ask about the timing belt--thanks for the tip!

up first on the list is replacing the passenger side cv joint, then an oil change.

after that, a drop and some HID's--that'll make it closer to what i'm envisioning for this nice piece of German engineering.

anyone know a good parts/tuning site for vdubs? something like our americanmuscle.com, stangsuspension.com, upr, boi, etc?

www.ecstuning.com

It didn't come with HID's stock? I love driving my A4 at night, HID headlights with custom bulbs, 6000k I believe. They have that bluish tint to them.

thanks for the link, man!

no, no stock hid's i'm looking for a set of projectors (smoked, clean-looking) so i can throw some HID's in them and have a nice cut-off line.

also looking for a dipstick and a passenger side cv joint.

Make sure you replace the tensioner, and water pump while doing the belt while you're in there. Every water pump WILL fail at one point. Every one I pull out is bad so I always make them do a pump too. For forums, you might try vwvortex, 99.9% ricky-racers there though, and the mk4 forum is 110% ricky-racers, but that's the only vw site I know of as far as forums. Cool DD though congrats!

thanks, Nik--i was hoping you'd chime in.

the water pump is new, so glad i don't have to worry about that. only thing i can feel wrong w/ the car is the cv joint--hope to get that done next weekend.

If you dont mind how much did you pay for it?

An old bud of mine had a 00 or 01 passat with the 1.8T, a guy I know now has a manual A4 with that motor, one of my cousins has a 0-02 jetta, one uncle has like 3-4 TDI's (one old old early/mid 80's one...well not a turbo but a diesel), and one of the wifes uncles has a 1.8t manual A4.

I would not mind getting a 1.8T jetta nice little cars, working on them kinda sucks...the turbos seem to be an issue at times, the guy with the passat went threw 2 by 100,000miles.

Sweet car man. I would love to have that for a daily driver! You should definitely look into a chip. My bro has an '01 GTI 1.8T that he chipped ( brought the boost to 15 psi) and it's legitimately fast. Not stang fast but it pulls hard and sounds sweet Have fun!

Good luck with it man because 01 is like the most troubled year for Vdubs ever. I've had to fix more problems on THREE of my friends 1 Jettas than I've had to fix on my car and mine is 13 years old and theirs is 7 years old. My cousin just had the car at VW and had $3000 of work done an it still didn't fix his problem. My friend Alex has gone thru 4 CV joints in a year on his, and the motor mount broke in my other friend Alex's 01, and the motor fell out off the car. Like I said, good luck, I love VW's but they suck balls.

The cv joint was my brother's last straw. So Paul has many things in there new. All he has to do is change out the cv joint.

From what I recall: new MAF, new Coils, new v/c gasket, new water pump, new belt, and other crap i don't remember.

Should work out perfectly for Paul.
