Finally got new wheels!! backspacing???

Well, my 16" 2005 V6 rims finally came in today and they look awesome sitting on the floor, but I want to see them on my car before I get excited. Right now I have a set of 14x7 magnum 500s on the car, and I know I need to get some spacers to adapt for the new rims. The backspacing on the new set is 5-3/4", but I don't know the backspacing of the 14inch magnums...does anybody know if I need to get 1-1/2" or 1-3/4" spacers to make my new wheels fit???

Also, (forgot this in my first post) how wide can I get with the rubber in the back without fender rolling or anything like that??? Will 295's fit or 275's, or will it have to be narrower to clear everywhere??

I think the best thing to do would be to try to install them then measure how much more they need to stick out. And while you have them on there take a picture and shoot it too us! I'm interested in those wheels too! My car would require 4.5" bs on a 7" wheel and 5.5" bs on an 8" wheel to look perfect. But my car is a cougar so it might be different for you. You might also find that the backspacing on the front might need to be different than the backspacing on the back.

I hope you mean adapters,not spacers,anything bigger then a 3/8 is unsafe.

my bad...I'm talking adapters...you can get a set of 4 on ebay for about $65. I'll try to get some pics for you.

Hurry up with the wheels ,those things will dime a dozen pretty soon,and their gonna be a cheap way of looking good,I might need some for the winter.

I would like to see pics of other tire combinaions as well. I have a 1966 coupe that I am going to re-shoe and I have read dodgestangs chart, but without pics it is hard to judge what looks good. I am going to do the shelby drop, does that increase or decrease the available tire size?

Probably makes it the same,if its lowere you have more low profile tires that wouldnt look right with stock height and vice versa.

What are you putting them on?

You can measure your own backspacing.
set the wheel on the ground with the back side up.
place a straight edge across the wheel edge (yard stick, 2x4 or whatever)
then measure from the back side of the wheel hub face (where the lug holes are) up to the bottom of your straight edge.
The measurement you get is your backspace of the wheel.

That's exactly how I got the backspacing on my new wheels, I just don't have it for the ones on my car cuz I don't really have a way of taking them off the car. It's a '70 fastback, so I figured the 16" wheels would fill out the fenders a little better than 15's.

Finally got new wheels!! backspacing???
