Hey guys, I have a 98 GT and my plan for it is to shove a 03 cobra engine and tranny into it. Other parts that are going in along with this are some LT's, cowl hood, clutch and id assume the computer as well. Any other major parts that im forgetting? Also here's my big question, would u guys consider getting a motor off of ebay? I follow many of the auctions and they end with the engine and tranny for around $ 7k. What do you think of that price and where might you get the engine/tranny? Thanks.

Buy it from a respectable company. People tend to be scammers.

you might also want to get some motor mounts & wiring harness.

Jegs sells a crate 2000 cobra motor with the tranny and all electronics needed, including gauge cluster and computer for like $6000 go to jegs.com and look under mustang and ford racing, then engine.

I'm not sure how much used ones with trannies go for. But I have seen new ones w/ T-56 for $12,500.

Yeah thats what I figured, but I thought I would throw that option out there, cause I was thinking of the same thing for my pony.

You'd be better off getting PI heads, forging the bottom end, and getting KB'd.

Well if he was to do ALL the work, lets add up the costs. PI heads, intake, and install. $999. Rotating assembly $1795. Kenne Bell about $5500. Ok so thats $8294, and agin thats if he did everything. Then you need to get a new clutch and probably a new flywheel, thats a good $500 more.So after tax and crap your looking at $9000 for what maybe 500RWHP, if you ran the 14PSI pully.Heck for the $5500 range I would get a HP turbo kit, its $6100 and gives 468RWHP @ 8psi and like 533RWTQ on a bone stock GT...its a NIGHTMARE to install, roughly 20hours but even at 8psi you would hand a 9PSI KB GT its butt.If you woere going that route and spending that kind of money you mise well go for it.But anyways I say go for the cobra engine, as you can see its much cheaper..and install labor would be a HECK OF ALOT cheaper than paying someone to put your engine together AND put it in.Cobra also has cams for Blower, heads that flow ALMOST 100CFM more air (about 185 vs around 266), and an engine that was made from the factory to handle a load of boost.
