Well, it has been about two years since i have been out to the good 'ole drag strip. I decided to take out my newly acquired GT out there to she what she could do. I gotta say, i was impressed. I wasn't thinking anything in the 13's with bald ass Kumho's and by blingage would be possible:nice:
First the basic info...This was at Houston Raceway park and it was around 70 degrees. Had a alot of things going against me
*Baldass crappy Kumho's with less than 2/32nds of tread (New tires are in the garage for tomorrow, is all good), Lowered 2" and on heavy ass chrome 18's and a Humidity of 92% :owned:

About the only thing in my favor was the Lakewood LCA's...sadly. Anyways, first time out ran a [email protected] and my 60' was HORRIBLE (2.369). On the 4the run i got what i wanted

60' 2.112
1/4 13.86
Trap 100.99 (.01 of a mph, so retarded  )

I was a bit pissed because i had missed 3rd on the run before and was hesitant to slam into 3rd gear so i babied it. I was very confident that with a nice shift into 3rd and less spin into 2nd my car was capable of 13.7's. Unfortunately i didnt get one more run like i wanted because someone wrecked and it was close to closing time, so they shut it down.

I'll be going back next time with a short throw shifter and new and wider rear tires. I won't mod anything else. You guys think with those two upgrades she'll run in the 13.6's? Is it worth it to take off the quad shocks since i have LCA's or not bother unless they rub the new 285's?
BTW, Only power mods are K&N, X-pipe, Catback

hey good runs. your wider tires will help grip, but its more weight, and more rotating mass....so we will see. if you have a real good set of LCAs then you might be able to take off the quad shock. you will have to see how bad the wheel hop is. I would say you should be able to get it down into the 13.7s but thats a good time with what you have, a handhld tuner would get you to a 13.6 or a plenum/tb would help also. let us know how it goes

NICE! Just get that 60 down and you will be WELL into the 13s. When I was bolton (more than that too lol...plenum, electric WP, chip. Unknown to me at that time, my A/F was setting @ 14-15 lol) I ran a 13.58 @ 100.29 at houston race way (awsome track) durring FFW. Unfortunatly I had a 25 MPH, 35* headwind lol. SO im sure that hurt trap alot...I know I FELT it. BTW my 60' was a 1.909 on my very first pass on my crappy 285 kumhos. INSANE track prep that day...not sure how it is the rest of the time.

I wish i lived in baytown :(.

I wouldn't worry about taking the quad shocks off.. I just put some 285/35/18 Goodyear GS-D3's on my back wheels (AWESOME ****ING TIRES!!!!!) and they don't rub or anything :D

Nice times man, keep it up and you'll get some really nice 13's comin out!

yeah go ahead and pull the QS's, they are pointless since you have LCAs. as far as the new tires and shifter helping et, i would say no. the only things that will help are weather and driving. the drop probably isnt hurting you that bad, my cobra is dropped a couple of inches and with the konis set to stiff in front it still can pull 1.9s

awesome times :nice:

little off topic, but isnt houston one of the fastest tracks in the country? im not trying to take anything away from his runs at all, I just heard that somewhere and wondered how true it was.

remove the quad shocks... also, if you're missing gears with the stock shifter, im sure the new short shifter will help you in that you will be able to do a more confident/fast 2-3 shift and not lose your momentum
Yea, i let off a bit on the 2-3 shift on the 13.86 run because i was hesitant. It pissed me off that i didnt get one more run. I'm hoping that with these new tires that i got put on today (No more spinning whatsoever in 1st and just a scratch into 3rd), shifter and some 4.10's i'll get this car close to or under 13.5 With no other power mods

yeah we were out there last night too!! white 04gt with black bullits and a silver 00gt with chrome R"S!!!!!

the 00gt with just a drop in filter, x-pipe, dragradials went 13.58 at 101.5 and the 04gt auto went 14.04 at 98.50 with just a open air filter!!!!

later in the night it started to suck because the humidty was so high almost 100% when i checked on my phone!!!!

I saw you guys out there on Sunday! I was telling my buddy that the Silver 00GT needed a drop BAD lol. I was shifting at redline on 1-2 and 2-3. The 13.86 run was at 9:50pm so it was HUMID. My front bumper was already getting wet. I was going to shift into 2nd before redline on the next run but never got a chance. Let me know when you go back out there
