My 302 in my car is not original. I'd like to find out what year the motor is for my own knowledge, and to get an idea of the horsepower rating. Can I find anything out by looking at the vin stamped on the intake manifold? Here is what is stamped on top, all I'm looking for is the year it was produced. Thank you!

030E-9425-AA, followed by a huge "X".

How can you tell? I cant figure the site out. That would be great if it came from a 1970! Whats the horsepower on a '70 302?

if you want to know for sure you can look at the numbers stamped on the underside of the block along where the oilpan bolts to the block at the rear of the motor. I'm not sure if it was on the passenger or drivers side though(i'm goign to guess passenger?)

anyway the number starts with a letter followed by a number. The letter is for the deckade and the number followign is the year

C is 60's
D is 70's
E Is 80's and so on

So if you had a 70 the first 2 numbers would be DO, or if you had a 69 the numbers would be C9.
