FINISHED MY REBUILD! but crankshaft pulley too far back??!?

first of all... WOOHOO, its 99.5% rebuilt!
fully cnc ported and polished trickflow twisted wedge heads... ford cam, trickflow street intake. crappy polished by myself. but. anyways.


well... i put on a new harmonic damper

a professional products street damper.
and used a puller/installed i got off of jegs.. forget which one

but anyways. pulled the stocker off. got that PP sucker on there.
bolted the pulley back on it. with the 4 bolts.

now that i have all the accessory pulleys back on.
i tried to route my belt tonight.
but the crankshaft pulley sits like.... 1-2" farther back then every other pulley on the motor..

it makes it so the belt would just jump right off the water pump no problem, i could see it would be a major problem. something isnt right..

could there be a part i forgot to put back on?

a spacer i need to buy?
something? anything?...

i need this car back asap to drive to work

:edit: now that i think about it.. the stock damper wont fit in the P.P. box.. because the shaft on it is longer.

You need to buy a pulley spacer. I am assuming it should be about the same as the FRPP damper I am using, but I cant tell you for sure. I am using a .950" thick spacer on mine. Anyway, the best way to 'gage' it is to use a long straight edge, (I used a long steel scale, but you could use a wooden yard stick or equivelent) place it on/across the crank pulley face and line it up next to another pulley (I used the alternator), now measure how far the front of that pulley is from the straight edge, this will be how much spacer you need.

I did this with the motor out and the W/P pulley off, so I had a bit more space to work with, but you should be able to do the same thing.

The P/N for the FRPP spacers are:

M-8510-A351-.350" thick
M-8510-B351-.950" thick (I used on my 351 with 5.0 pulleys & SFI damper)
M-8510-C351-.875" thick (FRPP says for a 5.0 with a SFI damper)

If you read the instructions, the balancer is a universal one for most of the ford family of motors. I had the same problem when i got mine together. I believe the part # for the PP balancer spacer is 81007. Check their website and see if thats it. Should get it right where you need it.
