Okay here goes.... I just finished installing my Powerdyne 9lb. kit on my 89 5.0. I also changed the starter, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, and radiator. This took way way too long by the way. I can't believe they claim 4-5 hours install.

Anyways, I start the motor and it immediately makes a clicking/semi-banging noise at idol. I shut the motor off within 20 seconds. My friend points out that I forgot to add back in the coolant. Ahhh. I am assuming 20 seconds wasn't enough to do any serious harm since the noise started with the first crank of the start up. Is this correct? My buddy said it hapend because the water pump had no fluid in it. So I waited 15 minutes until the engine was cool to the touch, filled the radiator and started it again. I shut it off immediately because this noise scares me so much. What is going on?

If anyone can help please respond. I am worried that I will screw something up and blow the motor. Also, do I need to prime the water pump? I imagine I have allot of air pockets after I drained the whole system.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I guess I'll try removing the accessory belt and turning everything individually. Then run it without the belt. I think I should purge the water pump however....

Have you checked the ignition timing? Are you sure the plug wires are in the correct places?

Its likely just something you overlooked. I'd go through everything and make sure its installed right.

How could the engine get hot to the touch in 20 seconds? Also, why did you replace the starter? Could the noise be coming from this area?

Almost got it.

The engine wasn't really hot at all but my friend made me paranoid.

I replaced the starter because as I was about to put the car on ramps, the starter went. It works now.

HOWEVER I think I found the problem. My crank pulley is wobbly. I took the fan and shroud off and found the the S/C pulley is nice and tight but the crank pulley itself is loose

This puzzles me because the S/C pulley bolts over top of that one and it is snug. I am going back outside now. Any suggestions let me know.

It's the pulley.

I dont understand why the stock crank pulley won't seat correctly. It wobbles. Which in turn is very loud as you can imagine.

Why can't stupid Powerdyne just give me a one piece pulley? No powerdyne jokes please. Any advice? This is my daily driver and I need it soon. Local parts store don't stock this pulley...
