First 1/8 mile track tests with my SQ-Trim

Hey guys,

I did some initial testing last week with my new setup, a '01 GT with:
- Vortech V2 (not aftercooled)
- Anderson boost pipe
- Focus pump
- 42 lbs injectors
- TR6 plugs gapped at 0.030
- Accufab 75mm plenum/tb
- MAC off-road h-pipe
- 4.10 gear
- ET Drags on Weld Racing wheels

-> No weight saving, swaybar still installed, on stiff Sportline springs

This is a 1/8 mile track that doesn't have a very good reputation about track prep. I went there because it's the nearest (safest) place to do initial testing. The results:
60 ft: 1.74 (couldn't launch above 4000 RPM to keep traction)
1/8 mile: 7.83 @ 91.3 mph

Temperature: 88F with 70% humidity

My questions…
1) Is this good considering the setup and conditions?
2) On another track, with better prep, launching at 5500 RPM under colder weather (70-75F), do you think this is a high 11s car?

First Temperature and humidity are only 2 of the 3 items needed to calculate Density altitude you also need to know what the barometer was. If the barometer was low and you can get better DA and better traction the next time you run you have a chance of low 12's maybe a high 11.

Looks good. With better prep you should be able to cut that 60' down considerably with ET drags, I would say some 11's would be attainable.

Not bad at all IMO. You should be able to dip into the 11s with a harder launch. But with your current 1/8 and trap that would run to about a 12.0-12.1 or so I think.

Are you the guy that was running upper 12s @ 107 with mild boltons???? Canadian?

Yes, that's me!

I was running much slower times at this track with my previous setup too (8.56 at this track versus 8.21 at the other track where I ran high 12s). It's a ****ty track, mostly just for fun. I hope it'll be the same too with the blower.

Awsome! Im curious what it will do at the other track....especially in the 1/4.

I would suggest an IC though...the inlet temps just get higher and higher the longer your on the gas W/O an intercooler. 1/8 it probably wont make a difference, but it sure as heck will on the back half down the 1/4 The more air that goes through, the cooler your inlet temps get...so instead of getting hotter, they will get cooler (= more HP) .

You're right... But I'm currently building a new house so the budget for the rear-end and IC went into the house budget hahahahaha.

I'll try to run 11s with this basic setup and calculate how much money is remaining for upgrading the Mustang project next winter.

Nice launch! I've run 12.60s with a 2.0 60', so just like everyone else is suggesting, I'd imagine that you'd be right around 12 flat - 12.20 in the quarter with a 1.74...

Well, I gave it a try yesterday on the 1/4 mile under slightly colder weather and the car pulled much more.

My slicks were unfortunately on their last day with pretty bad 60fts (mid-high 1.70s), but I still managed to run 11.95 @ 119 mph.

11.95 is pretty awesome! With an intercooler, you could go quite a bit faster too! Nice job

Do you happen to know what your race weight is? I'm guessing that with your N/A times and trap that your car is significantly lighter than stock.

Wow good times! And definatly a good trap! Car has alot in it for sure...an IC would make it even better.
And with 4.10s im betting your crossing @ 6100ish RPM right? thats not too good....mines doing the same thing with 3.73s and its killing my trap (valve float). Not to mention all the stress on the motor! I would suggest going down to 3.73s so your not crossing soo high.
