Here it goes! I just bought myself a new project car, a 1991 Notch with a little 2.3 motor. My plan is to run in the local 275 class, so that little 4 cylinder is gonna have to go (Probably in favor of a carbureted 408w). This is going to be a paycheck to paycheck build, and It's going to take a while but I can't wait to get started! Here's some pictures of what we've got, sorry for the quality all I had was my phone:

The body's in pretty good shape, with only one dent on the roof. There isn't a spot of rust on the car. Pretty solid so far!

The interior is CLEAN with the exception of the worn out SVO seats. I'll probably just vacuum everything real good when the interior comes out for the cage.

I bet my neighbors are going to love, I mean hate, me.

You are going to build a 275 car in a parking lot?

check the rules of the apartment, I know many do not allow that much of a teardown in the public parking lot. I hate to see you lose your project to some parking lot nazi

The porsche is a 912e, it's exterior body is in good condition but the frame is rotting and the floors are eaten through. My neighbor last wanted $800 for it. I've wanted that thing so many times but could never get myself to do it. And it's a townhouse so we have like a homeowners association, everyone's cool with it as long as I don't break any noise ordinances and I cover it up when I'm not working on it. So far just about everyone in my court has come to check it out, they all really liked my last car too! (which is going up for sale to fund this one).

Honestly you would be better off parting that car out and buying someones project. Been there and done that top many times.

Thanks for the advice, really I appreciate it. But I'm really picky with my cars and I want to make sure everything is done my way and to my standards.

if the body is good, no rust, go for it! No need to waste a good notch. I can barely find a decent one anymore.

Thanks man! I understand how strange this build is, but I'm working with what I got. I know this thing will take forever to build, and it won't break any records. But I want to do this, and I think I can.

What power adder are you planning, what rules does your local 275 class follow, and how fast are the local guys running?

3000lb limit for small block with a power adder (In my case nitrous), or 2700lb for N/A small block, stock suspension, muffler, finished interior, tail light, any 275 Drag Radial. And everyone's going in the low 6s and high 5s.

Well I'm gonna sell it, and get a car for fuel mileage, and whatever money is left over will go into this. So yea, I'm pretty dumb.

Just really confused over here, you are just dismantling the car in the parking lot then what? a competitive 275 car isn't something I see being built there.

Well I guess there's going to be more than taking it apart. Basically everything I can do here, I will. And I don't expect to be competitive at all at first, I'm just trying to have some fun.

Good luck with your project. I can relate to trying to build a track car out doors. Ive been tinkering with mine for a long time without a garage. curently its in the back yard under a tarp.

Don't let these guys sway or discourage you. I built a dirt track super stock car in my back yard, I just had to make sure I had the brush cut back about 100 feet when I was welding.

There is lot to learn here, and you will be a better person for trying such a project
