I plan on purchasing a 1987-93 Mustang to slowly modify it into a NHRA stock eliminator. It will fit into L thru O. I am going to document every step on the mods. Every other week if the weather permits I am going to go to test and tune at Irwindale raceway here in California and log every run. So here is my question, what would the first mod that you personally would make?

This is my first foray into the ford world so I will have a few million questions

Chassis stiffening. At least quality weld in subframe connectors but This would also be something to consider.

Suspension would be a great start. What good is a 10 second motor if you can transfer it to the ground efficiently.

Thanks for the ideas, if I can get a N stock mustang to run 10's that would be great, But I doubt I can get a 13.00 index car to run 3 seconds or near under the index.

I ended up picking up a 92 GT with a tired engine. As soon as I can I am going to run down to Irwindale and see what she will give me with this tired engine.

After the subframes, off road H-Pipe (or X-Pipe if you prefer) if the rules allow it. One of the biggest improvements I noticed.
