Hey all,

I've been itching to do a coupe for 10 or so years. I ran across this one on Ebay and thought it would make a good project. Picked it up for $2300

66, non-original 302,(not running) 3 speed, quarters intact, out of Virginia. It obviously needs a good amount of work, (body, paint, seats, thinking about a 5.0 EFI swap) but did I make out alright?

Looks pretty solid, are you happy with it? It has a good intake on it..What are your restoration strengths? Usually paint and body are much more expensive than mechanical stuff. The floors look questionable from here...Does it have the complete V8 front suspension upgrade? That single master cylinder will need to get upgraded, when you get it running..

Does the engine spin over freely? Does it have compression? I'm old and have bought 60's era mustangs running and driving for $1000. Granted that was ~20 yrs ago. So, I have a hard time with the changing times and comming to gripps with the value of these cars in non running condition and needing body work to boot. You probably did fine on your purchace by todays standards but 20 years ago, that's a $300 car.

I'm happy with it. Seeing what even rough 6 cyl's go for these days I think I made a solid buy. The motor turns freely, but I'm really considering gutting a wrecked fox body for an EFI motor and selling what's under the hood. I'm decent with body work, and my buddy's uncle is a great body man and is willing to spray it for me when it's done. I'm thinking about POR 15 on the undercarriage, anyone ever use it?

Looks very simular to my 66 that I picked up 10 years ago. I too bought it off of eBay. The underneath of mine was not rusty like yours but I did POR15 the entire underside of mine. I also POR15 the engine bay as well.

And here it is, 10 years later.

Good luck!
