Not very happy with my times, but it was only my first night out and I couldn't launch the car too well.

Best ET:
10.0329 @ 72.59

Best MPH:
10.0912 @ 73.10

Both times I was in the right lane and the 60ft timer in that lane wasn't working. Best 60ft I managed in the left lane was a 2.48 which is horrible and got 10.1369 @ 69.09 on that run.

I think that if I could get the car launched and shave off my 60ft closer to a 2.0, then I could get into the mid 9s. I think my trac-lok is worn out, so maybe once I get that rebuilt while installing the 3.73s I can knock off a lot of time.

That would equate to a mid 15 @ 91-92 mph.......pretty standard with a 60' foot time like you had. Traction is everything.

It's a 5 speed. Shifting was never a problem, never missed a gear and sure wasn't granny shiftin.

My problem is getting it launched and actually getting traction. I could shave off a LOT of time if I got a solid hook right off the line because my 60 fts SUCK.

Mods to the car that I know of are K&N, BBK underdrive pulleys, Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back, and the stock mid pipe has the rear cats removed.
As for suspension, it has some sort of aftermarket rear lower control arms and the quad shocks have been removed.

Rear tires are 245/50/16 Kumho Ecsta Supra's.

how are you launching? a rev and dump kinda approach or are you slipping the clutch? My first ever time at the track with stock gears was a 15 flat at 93 with a 60' of high 2.29x with stock size tires and a CE light! Are you spinning real bad or boggin it? I found with stock gears the best launch was to slip the clutch from like 3k trying to moderate wheelspin.

I must agree, the first step is getting the 60fts down. A traction loc rebuild along with the gear will really help. Maby then see about some better tires.

I started out by launching at only 2k just to see if that was good enough. Sure enough, all I did was spin all the way through 1st gear. I warmed the tires up by just dumping the clutch and spinning them really good. I was told that with street tires the best thing is just to clean them off because if you sit there and smoke them they will just get more slippery.

I thought about slipping the clutch, but I'm not sure if I want to put that much wear and tear on my clutch because it's all I've got to drive.

I think the next time I go, I might have my trac-lok rebuilt and the 3.73s installed. Maybe at the end of this month if I'm lucky.

How much time do you guys think I could drop if I got a solid hook and had the 3.73s installed? Maybe get into the low 9s or high 8s?

maybe but "solid hook"and"street radials" dont go together in my book.
youll need d/r's or slicks for sure
if you thinkin high 8's
and acouple bada$$
launches.

notice my 60' and 1/8mile times? i wish i could explain that for you....... dont ask me

My first pass at an 1/8th track was a 9.7, and it's down to a 9.4 @ 77.x. That was with 2.73s, wheels, xpipe, and cat-back. 2.2 60'ft time. That setup had a couple more tenths left in it I think, just I couldn't get out of the hole all that good. I hoping with gears that I can touch high 8's without much problem, if it will hook now.

The MPH is low too. Did you shift as so as you spun and bog into the next gear? You are missing about 8-9 tenths and 4-5 MPH from where you should be. You dont NEED 3.73's to run low 9's. What gears do you have now? What other mods?

My friend's 90 LX hatchback went 9.1@77 years ago with a K&N Panel Filter, 3.08's, timing bumped, fully stock exhuast and 3.08's. He might even have gotten some 9.0's out of it after that.

Another friend's 87 GT with boltons, stock heads, cam, intake, tb, ect, 3.08's ran 8.42@82 MPH, another friend's 93 notch with boltons, Cobra Intake, 3.08's ran 8.48@82.56.

You can get low 9's high 8's with basic boltons and a decent 60 ft.

Even though the tires were spinning, I kinda let off to see if it would hook (it didn't) and laid back into it and they spun up to about 5k and I shifted to 2nd without much if any bog.

Gears are 2.73s.

i pull a i think a best of a 9.9 in the 1/8th with a 2.3 or 2.4 60ft at 76mph... and then 1/4 at 14.9 at 95.78mph! so it picks up power somewhere! mine is a dog off the line! stock AOD is my problem!!!

Even with 2.73's it should get out of the 10's, the 60 ft is gonna have to come down first. The cumhoes need to go somewhere else.
