OK, First time at the track next week. What rpm should I launch at? Do you recommend shifting at redline or earlier? Do I stick with 3rd or make the shift to 4th?

what track are you going to? 1/8 or 1/4? cause in the 1/8th you only go the 3rd, and at the 1/4 you go to 4th, or at least I do. and as for launch it depends how brave you are and how much your tires can take. I usually launch around 3k but have friends who launch at 5k, but we run drag radials. I launch lower cause I worry about half shafts. just try differnt rpms when you go there until you find out what works best for your setup.

If you're launching on a stock IRS on stock F1's don't even try dropping the hammer at the "green". You'll either blow that back tires off or wheel hop like crazy. You're going to have to slip the crap out of the clutch and apply only enough power as the F1's can hold. It's not easy to do and takes some practise... I was actually able to pull a 1.962 60' on the stock IRS and stock GY F1's.

As for when to shift.... depends on many variables. Since these cars have so much torque so early in the power band you may actually have better results shifting at 6200RPM's vs red line.

You will definitely go way past the 6500 red line if you leave it matted in 3rd through the traps.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll let you know how it goes.

My local track is 1/8th mile so let me know if that changes anything.
