Ok here's the deal. I bought a 5-speed 90 GT a few weeks ago and I've finally got around to replacing the lower shift boot on it because it was missing. Well, I gutted the interior and and was confused about how the transmission tunnel was different than my 90 GT donor car. After a little research on Stangnet, I finally realized my "newer" 90 GT use to be a automatic transmission car. Well, needless to say the lower shift bot and bezel do not fit whatsoever on the former AT car. I've read where some people just bent the bezel to shape around the AT tunnel, but I was wondering if I could cut the section with the 1" rise out of the donor car and have it welded on top of the AT tunnel. If I could do that with satisfactory results, I believe I would be much happier with a tight fitting lower shift boot as far as heat and drivetrain noise goes. Please input with any suggestions, ideas, or experiences you may have had concerning this problem. Pics would be a BIG TIME bonus, but I know taking pictures in the middle of a 5-speed conversion wouldnt be a priority for most people. Please help. I'm ready to get the interior back in (changing to black while I'm at it) so I can mmove on to the next TLC project. Thanks so much Stangers.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

most people cut the rise off the old car or make one of their own.
