You are at the age now where we shouldn't have to explain it to you.

It floors me that some new guy comes into a place,...goes to the basement and starts rummaging through all of the dusty boxes of crap that's been down there for years. Then, after finding the dustiest of all the junk boxes, decides to carry it back upstairs, open it, and regardless of the content of the box,...........
Only says"Hi" after it's all done?

We should add all the other forums have. My YB posts have to be approved (and apparently never do) because I post so little), holley never sent me an activation link and you can't post pics (that they don't host anyways) on damn near any of them.
While this is annoying, I appreciate this forum for the other reasons

time to revive this i believe. car has been doing fine. i got the front end fixed where i rear ended someone and have been trying to get it to sit straight ( i think the cars twisted)

ive put coilovers on the front, and have gotten it closer, but i think im going to need a panhard bar and sn length rear axles to get it closer

im in the middle of a motor build right now

gt40p heads with the exhaust side ported
trick flow valve springs
crane cams pedestal to stud conversion
crane 1.6 roller rockers
6.5 inch trick flow hardened pushrods
trick flow stage 1 cam
new ford racing timing chain and water pump
ford racing 10.5 inch hd clutch
new ford throwout bearing and pilot bearing
all new ford heater hoses, rad hoses, and lifters
arp head bolts
early (96) explorer intakes (bead blasted and cleared)
explorer 65mm tb
explorer 19lb injectors
car already has 76 mil mass air and inlet tube
everything else has been bead blasted and painted black
all new gaskets
frpp p headers
pa performance mini starter
silla 3 core aluminum rad
mishimoto dual fan setup
33054 flexalite fan controller
most sensors will be new
new ac compressor, evap, orifice tube and lines
bbk off road h
deleting smog pump and egr
msd coil wires cap and rotor

(heads are black, they look blue in pics)

this starter owes me nothing, covered in oil, original, and teeth starting to wear down. still was working fine

oil leaks were causing me problems, this car was bought from the original owner, he put 1 k miles on it in 10 years. i snapped a clutch cable a little while back from oil being all over it (got pedal height adjuster, adjustable quadrant, new cable, ect)

will keep posting pics

I havent updated this in a while. i got the motor all together.

i got the car running, drove it up and down the road twice. let it sit for a day, and it wouldnt start. low compression. pulled the front driver side spark plug, shove air in it and get it out of the dipstick tube and oil fill cap, 50 lbs of compression, put oil in it it goes to 120. so this thing had weak rings it looks like, and re sealing everything did them in. sitting in storage now. going to get a fordstrokers.com 331 short block here after a while.

Time flies. been bored on the internet today and ended up going through this thread.

I sold most of that engine setup once I got it apart. I just built a house with a two car attached heated/cooled garage so shes been riding jack stands for a while now. Also bought a 98 subaru forester daily driver that I have been rebuilding (drive 37 miles each way to and from work every day). once done with that Im going back into the mustang.

When I pulled the motor apart, everything looked fine until I got the pistons out. All 8 pistons had stuck rings, both rings and the oil ring were stuck on every single piston. Had to dig them out with a pick. There wasn't much carbon, and i was going to go back together with the old combo, and I bought a set of rings and cleaned a piston out and the new rings were tight in the ring lands. Almost like the ring lands shrunk or compressed somehow. No idea what caused that, but now that I'm settled, not moving anymore I decided when I put this car back together I want it to be right. I've had this car for almost 18 years now so why not.

Once running I need to get the subframe connectors cut out of it and drive it some ( I think they are holding the car twisted in some way) and try to sort out its oddball ride height lean issue.

So right now I have a bare block, the crank has been polished and is waiting to go back together, and I have new rod/main bearings and cam bushings.

Leaning towards TFS 190 11R heads, Custom cam from FTI, at least 30lb injectors, 75mm TB, 80mm MAF, and some kind of nice intake manifold. Don't really need to take the block .030 over, but finding trick flow cut pistons in 4.00 isn't the easiest thing so it will probably end up being a 306.

Slowly but surely getting work done. Been working on it since my daughter was born 9 months ago. Have the engine together. Tfs170 fac heads, ed Curtis cam, systemax II intake. Now into removing and cleaning the interior and doing sound deadning. Next will be pulling the dash, masking and spraying the bay and fender aprons and then on to reassembly. Had the rear rebuild with new trac loc clutches, 3.55 gears, and I have all the parts to do cobra brakes front and rear. Lots to do still
