Fixing bent axle housing?

i bent my axle housing not alot but enough were it wears bearings in 3 months is there any way i can measure it to see how much its off by?
its only the drivers side thats messed up.

Is there a way i can straighten it? Can I use ratcheting straps to straighten it?


any advice would be helpful.

Find yourself a new housing...they are cheap at wrecking yards...once the tube is bent its pretty much done. You could probably have someone straighten it but with the time and expense, a new housing would be easier.

will a 96-98 axle housing work is it the same length?

Its the same length. You can actually use one from a 86-98. The housings are the same.

then why are there different axle shaft lenghts?

The different axle shaft lengths is what changes the wheelbase. 94-98 rear axles are about 3/4" longer than the fox bodies, and the 99-04 are another 3/4" longer than our cars. The axle housing is identical, but the axles themselves are longer. Basically, the axles stick out of the housing a bit farther.

well i'll look at some junkyards for 86-98 axle housing how much do you think they will charge, how would i can I check to make sure that axle housing is not bent?

its too bad there are no junkyards with 15 miles from me.
guess i gots too call around.
