ok, im fixnig up my vic to sell or keep if no one buys it by winter

this is whats wrong, and i wanna keep it as cheap and driveway mechanic friendly and know what i would need for each

first..valve cover gaskets..tryd to fix before..but leaks even more now (any help on how to do this? i hate having to replace a valuable peice but not being able to reach it)

wheel bearing (im suspecting) is goin bad, because it squeels and squeeks

im thinkn my brake pads needa be replaced because it squeels when i put on the brakes

replacing a snapped e-brake cable

tranny shakes violently at shift points

moving shift points so there not on 45 and 55 (right where i press the pedal to keep the speed up it shifts, then upshifts after a second becuase its goin too fast)

and the engine is running REALLY hot..drove it home (about 20 minutes) at about 6..and its still hot now..its been 2 hours..and the hood is almost too hot to touch after driving it like that (temp gauge is reading alil above half and just replaced thermostat)

and make last, make it so the car doesnt havta be on to pop the trunk

so anyhelp would be greatly appriciated

1. Ford makes a a very nice set of valve cover gaskets that are almost leak proof, a little higher than the parts store cork gaskets but worth it.

2.If it is a front wheel bearing it is very easy and cheap to replace.

3. See number 2

4. Never done one on a Crown Vic, but don't imagine it would be that bad. Just use jackstands don't get under the car with just a jack.

5. Sounds like a torque convertor issue. Have a tranny shop take a look at it.

6.If it is an AOD have tranny shop adjust Throttle Valve cable while they are checking out the problem from number 5.

7.Use a thermometer in the radiator to check the actual temp. (don't remove the cap after the car gets hot do it before) Or better yet get a cheap parts store aftermarket gauge and check it out. Don't put much faith in your stock gauge.

8. Simple just run the hot wire from the switch to a constant 12 volt source instead of a switched one.
