Hey guys,

I bought a flame thrower kit and installed it. But it is not working. The problem I am having is that the 1999 mustangs have 8 coil on plugs instead of having just one ignition coil. The instructions say to cut the wire in between the key cylinder and + coil. You are supposed to cut it and connect it to a switch that has 3 inputs. The third input on the switch is for power going to a control box with resistors---> then going to two coil packs I mounted in the trunk----> then to the spark plugs in the tips.

I was a little hesitant to post this because I know a lot of people hate it for various reasons. I would appreciate it if negative opinions were held back. But if you can't hold back thats okay since this is a public forum.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hey atleast someone replied. Thanks guys but is there anyone that knows about the ignition system on the 99 and newer mustangs? A guy on corral gave me his user and password for the ford installers website. It did help but I still couldn't fix the problem.

Now the problem I am having is the 12v wire by the ignition is also controling the feul. But I need feul to flow through the exhaust in order to have flames. Next I used the main red wire that splits and goes to each coil on plug. Thats the way I have it now but still no flame with the flame kit. I did get flames a different way. I had my friend rev the engine a few times while I held a butane torch by the pipes and this gave me a couple bursts of flame. This was totally with out using the flame kit. Anyone know which wire to use or how to increase the flow of feul. Oh yeah the sparks from the spark plug are pretty small, should I increase the gap?

Lastly, I was a little hesitant to post this because I know a lot of people hate it for various reasons. I would appreciate it if negative opinions were held back. But if you can't hold back thats okay since this is a public forum.

Also someone on stangnet got this to work on his mustang but it's a 1998. Here's the link: Link

And another guy: Link2

Thank you in advance for any help.

Oh my God...............I'm not EVEN gonna think about this question :nonono:

I have no idea how to hook one up on a "new" car back in the day my father and i used a sparkplug in each tallpipe on our 55" Chevy with a separate coil and a momentary switch, charge the coil up and hit the switch to light them up.. and night it was sweet..
Just make sure your tallpipes stick out about 3" from you bumper or youll eventually roast your bumper..
For the fuel part youll have to trick the car into running rich.. if you have cats
its going to be kinda hard to get that much combustible of mixture..

to all you RUDE A$$es
Umm this really isnt RICE.. this is one of the OLD Hot-Rod goodies..

Tho i think all new age cars shouldnt really have it.. but hell it be different..
And just think you can BURN the front bumper of a RICER..

All the guys I have seen do this recently on hotrods or otherwise use a seperate coil that is dedicated to the flamethrower. Also, I think you'll need an offroad midpipe to get enough raw fuel that far back.

As far as richening it, you could try a flipswitch chip. Have them set up one of the banks on the chip to run rich so you can get enough fuel to feed the flames.

don't label exhaust flames ricer just because you saw it on fast and the furious... how often do you see mid-90s imports in real life with flames spitting out of their farting mufflers? I think it'll be one unique killer ride once he gets it working... it's not like he's rigging up little steam generators just so he can shoot fake nitrous purges out of his hood...

wait wait wait.... you want to shoot fire out of your tail pipes??? i'm not going to judge but why would you ever want to ignite a fire that close to your gas tank

That's true, but it is shooting away from the car plus the flames come out in quick bursts. I doubt it would be able to blow up the gas tank. Anyway I'm probably going to give up since I can't think of anything and you guys aren't being much help. Thank you to everyone that did actually try to help, but I geuss this is just not going to happen.

don't pay attention to the jackarses... i want to see a freakin flame throwin' stang!!! If you don't go through with it, I might just steal your idea and use it for my stang some day. :p

I put in a few hours today after getting motivation from posts on Corral. The bottom line is that it is one heck of a challenge to get this working with the newer Mustangs that have coil on plugs. It would be a walk in the park doing it on the older mustangs. Thats why none of the people that tried it on the newer Mustangs on Corral were able to get it to work.
