Hello,

I got a flat tire on the way to work today. I have a 2001 GT with the stock bullit rims. Are these 17x8 or 17x9?

I currently have 245 45s on the front and 275 40s on the back. I will be buying four new tires. What size should I get? Would 255 45s work well all around?

Thanks,

The stockers measure 17x8. 255/45's should work fine...I had 255/40's at one point on my car but, with the stock springs, the fender gap was ridiculous.

Good luck

94-95 Cobras came OEM with 255/45/17's on 17x8 wheels.

The factory bullitts are 17x8. Factory size is 245/45/17 for that year

Ya man, I used to rollerblade everyday but that was pretty far back in the day. If I was to do what I did back then now I think I would kill myself. lol.

Thanks for the help with the tires guys. Its pretty hard to find 255 45 r17s here in Edmonton. I went to kaltire and it will take them a week to get them in and the final price will be $1100 for four. Costco had some decently priced michelins but they could not order them in and the only ones they could get cost $253 each plust install charges. Not sure what I am going to do yet.....

I really dont want to go from 275s in the back to 245s... they look too skinny to me. 275 is too big for a 8 inch rim though imo.

It's your call though. Pony up the dough for an extra 10mm of width (0.39") or just go 245 which is a very common tire size with cheap tires aplenty

To anyone reading this thread: What would you do? Extra money for 255s or go with the common and cheap 245s?

I just went with 255/45-17s on my stock rims and love them. Fills the fender nicely. Next time I would even go with 255/50-17s. I paid $67 a tire for summie HRTZs.

The tires I have on my car (245/50/16) aren't carried by anyone around here so I just ordered them off Discount Tire Direct. They got here in 2 or 3 days and shipping was free, so that might be another option for you

If it was really hard to find them I would probably just go with the 245's as well. I can relate though why you want them a bit wider than stock--maybe you could have them drop-shipped from the TireRack or something?

Get the 255's, You dont want to live with tires you dont really like.
I dont understand why 4 tires of decent quality would cost over 1k
Cant you order from tire rack?

I agree. I will get 255s no matter what. I obtained a quote from Tire Warehouse for four BFG g-Force Super Sport All Season 255/45ZR17 BWS 98W for $932 installed. I dont know much about those tires but I am going to do some reading. I wasnt a huge fan of the tread pattern though. So far that is the cheapest I could find.

I probably could order from tire rack but I am in a rush since I am currently driving around on a donut... looks very ugly!

Nearly 250 per installed is pretty steep. Can you find a place that will install for 15-25 a tire? You can order them alot cheaper.

www.tiresavings.com. Discount Tire or Tire Rack would be best.
