Halibrand, Wheels & hot rod parts. They are selling Ford flathead engines that are exFrench military. The engines are from warehoused stock, and are intended to be ready to install replacements, not wornout stuff. Google Halibrand their site will show you.

which model flathead do you need? There are several different varieties and bellhousing/transmission setups. I grew up around flatties, but I haven't worked on 'em much personally. If you were in Ga. I could probably set you up with something, we've probably got 15-20 sitting in our barn.

I always see them at goodguy's swap meets. I don't know if they come to Texas, but if they do, it's a good place to look.

Has anyone ever swapped one into their stang?

I checked Ebaymotors yesterday and saw about a half dozen or so. Keep going back, new stuff is put up everyday.

A flathead-powered stang would be interesting.

302: Looking for a 1949 and up model with detachable bell housing. Models I'd like to get are 8BA, 8RT, 8EQ, 8CM. Any suggestions you may have would help too.

Jade: Goodguy's is in Ft Worth this weekend and I will be there...we'll see

Jes: most of them on Ebay are either pretty expensive and/or wont ship. I'm checking it every day or so

TUBO3 - sorry bout that, won't happen again. I found a website with info from people who have used the Frechies engines and they seem to be having a lot of issues with things not working or matching up (accessories, mounts, alternators, starters, etc...)

You may be suprised how cheap it is to ship engine blocks and 9" assemblies, at least I was. The cost of crating them is usually ~35% of getting it delivered, as long as you use ground transport it aint too bad.

I bought a '38 model flathead V8 for $5 here in OKC, my buddy bought a '49 for $10 here as well.

Pate swapmeet is held at the Speedway in Ft Worth every year, they have a swap in the parking lot just north of the Ballpark in Arlington every so often and there's a swap meet coming up in Chickasha, OK soon. I've got a buddy that has a lot of flathead stuff, 4" Merc cranks, aluminum heads, multi carb intakes, stromburgs, etc. if you don't come up with anything. He's just on the north edge of OKC.

I know there's a couple companies that make C4 and AOD adapters as well.

I'll look and see what we have, I think we only have 2 8BA's left, most of our stuff is the earlier style (late 30's). I'll ask my dad if we have any solid 8BA's he'd be willing to sell and let you know.

You may also want to check with some of your local engine builders. I remember the last time we had one bored at the machine shop, the guy said he had a few of his own, and went on to mention several others that he had done work on recently. Usually, those type of people "know a guy that knows a guy." You never know what you might be able to dig up locally if you talk to the right people.

Edbert: Yeah, my company ships from here to all over the US and vise versa. the shipping cost is not too bad but with paying however much for a engine then shipping it get's a little pricey for something I have to rebuild....plus I'm thinking that there has to be something closer.

1320: a 1949 for $10, I'll come to OKC and get one for that cost...if there's anymore? I hit the pate back in April but didnt really see any, the ball park was last week and Goodguy's is this weekend. Once I get one your buddy will probably get some business. I already have a C4 and an AOD...not sure which one I'm going to use for this project

302: Thanks for checking, just let me know. I have the word out here locally too and am going to nose around a little more this weekend.
