I just took my wife flying for the first time in a few years on saturday. It really freaks her out, but my son loves it. Are you working on getting your license or something?

I am in the Air Force ROTC, hoping to be a fighter pilot. So why not get more credit by having a private license as well, plus they pay for it so it is free.

There was recently an accient in my area, where two single engine cessna's like that ran into each other mid air. Keep your eyes open.

I had to edit that mess of a first sentence in my last post so it is understandable.

Anyway, that's awesome! There's nothing that really compares to flying airplanes, I've been doing since I was a kid. My dads been a commercial pilot since he was 19, but he earned his private license on a flying scholarship in the Air Cadets when he was 17. We've had an airplane on and off since the early eighties. We flew our old cessna 170 from coast to coast across Canada and down to San Diego. The thing to remember once you get your license is to keep it current and go flying any excuse you can think of!

That is freaking sweet BDT. I hope to build a plane of my own within the next decade. If only I could afford a P-51.

KK that is freaking sweet, I wish I was brought up around that. My grandpa was a fighter pilot, my dad was training to be one, then changed his mind, now I am doing it. My mom on the other hand is scared to death of flying and spent all night crying before I went up.

72grande, I know what you mean, they actually just had a CAP Cessna go down in Wyoming because the pilot was flying 30ft above the water and he hit some guide wire. You always need your eyes open because up there they are very very hard to see, so long as you are paying attention to the skies, and radio you should be fine.

Here's a shot last winter with my son, wife and my Dad with our plane. We were just shoveling it out in case we wanted to use it over the weekend and to keep the snowload off it, of course.

That is freaking sweet KK. Is it pricey to park outside? I am assuming much cheaper than a hangar.

It's really cheap - less than $500CAN a year. We had a hanger for a couple years, but the rent went up to close to three grand a year. That's a little steep for a C-172 in need of a paint job. The nice thing about the hanger was you didn't have to worry about frost or ice on the wings. I had to postpone our flight on saturday from 9:30AM (the weather was cold and crisp with clear skies) to much later in the afternoon (hazey weather) because of frost.
