Flickering Headlights

I was going down the interstate the other night and my headlights went off and then started flickering. The dash lights stayed on though. I kept pounding the area on the dash where the switch is and they stayed on...I checked the switch today and didnt find anything weird. What wire should I pay special attention to? Thanks

i've never personally heard of this problem.

I would first check your headlight fuse to see if it's burnt at all, this is the easiest thing to do before you bother with pulling the whole dash panel out or something. I don't think both the dash and headlights are on the same fuse, so that could be it. Next I would go with wiring behind the rheostat (headlight knob)

Yeah I checked those wires earlier but Ill check the fuse this time, thanks.

actually a rheostat is a dimmer it is a device that increases or decreases resistance in an electrical circut. you would probably call the head light knob a swith more than you would a rheostat.

I had this problem about a month ago and fixed it. It's your headlight switch. It's easy to take out and replace, just remove your dash near your gauges. I replaced mine and they don't **** up anymore.

i did have this problem also on my tauras...replaced the headlight switch and it was good to go no more problems

Hm but In replaced it about a year ago when I fried one of those wires...but its an Autozone part, that may be my problem!

i had this problem, too, but in my case the headlight contacts (right where you plug the harness into the bulb) wasn't so great. i scrapped the contacts with a razor, used some electrical cleaner and it was a done deal. although, if you say it goes away when you tap the headlight switch, that's probably your problem.

Fox headlight switches have an internal thermal switch (like a circuit breaker on your hair dryer). I have NO clue if 94-95 headlight switches have the same feature. If that is trippin but the fuses arent, swapping a switch is something I might do (checking the connector at the same time or beforehand).
