hey whats up, my friend has a 91 2.3 mustang. We checked it out today and he has a hole in his muffler and he wants to get a flowmaster. Has anyone done this on a 2.3? and how does it sound? What is it a 2" pipe? Thanks

Adam

Check the sticky, Red LX had dual Flowmasters on his. The stock pipe is 2 inches. Also check out Adam J's old website for a few clips.

I have a 40 series Flowmaster on my car, it sounds great, like a little V8 at idle and up to 35mph. I also have the Ranger header, and I understand that is responsible for the particular exhaust note.

I just ordered a 50 series delta flow, I'll let you all know what it sounds like when I finally get the time/finances available to do my exhaust.

Don't forget that a 2.3 is a fairly big bore 4 cylinder, therefore, it wont sound ricey. The formula for displacement I believe is the following (someone please correct me if I am wrong):

displacement = bore x stroke x # of cylinders.

The 2.3 is 140ci, whereas they 4.6 is 281ci. So, thought of logically the bore and stroke should be the exact same as that motor. Exactly half as much displacement and exactly half as many cylinders. Anyhow, my point is that a flowmaster should sound alright on a 2.3 considering it has got a fair amount of volume per cylinder.

i had a 40 series delta flow on my old 2.3n/a and i absolutly HATED it. It was "cool" the first day, then after that it got annoying, you could hear me from so far away. but then again i also had both my cats cut off if that makes a difference.

Dynomax Ultra Flo..they are stainless and quiet until WOT. Which is when you would want it loud anyways.
