Flowmaster vs. MagnaFlow?

I did a lot of research before I ordered my Magnaflow kit for my 66 and I have been very pleased with the quality of the kit from the look of it to the sound which is not loud until you really get into it. There has been absolutely no drone either which is something you need to be aware of when dealing with flowmaster kits.

I second the magnflow kit, I was going to by the flow's but when my local muffler guy put both of them in my hand and I could see straight through the magnaflow and just baffles on the flow, he asked which do you think would flow better. I have to say I'm very pleased w/ the Magnaflows and as mentioned no drone and is nice for crusing but really go alive when you hit it...I have a few video clips on my site you can get a pretty good idea of the sound. I have a 289 w/ tri-y's into 2.5" tubing w/ an X pipe..my .02:D

Sentipede, let me know when you get your's installed. I ordered mine a few weeks ago and just haven't had the time to get them installed. As soon as I do I post my findings.

hey question, do you know if this code is good for a 67 kit also?

Yes it is! I think it is for anything on the web site. I t just asks for the code after its in your cart you can type it in and see the savings! and if you post a link to a forum where you have given the code they give you ten more bucks off! sweet deal. Before I get mine though I am gonna check out what "MRaburns" has to offer. I wont be getting exhaust anytime soon so don't count on me for info on how it sounds or anything. I am waiting to here your guys responces. But I am pretty set on magnaflows system. my friend has flowmasters on his 94 cobra and they are a little to loud for me.

I have a flow kit now and if i had it to do over again I would get the magnaflow kit. I don't think the magnaflow was available when I got my flowmasters. Im going to a roller 302 based motor now so i will sound like most fox bodies on the road.

Had my Magnaflows installed yesterday. (Professionally)

First off the quality was perfect, but I was a little dissapionted on the sound. The 302 motor in my Mustang came out of my 32 Roadster which has Flowmasters on it and I think it sounded much better running with the flowmasters. I went with the Magnaflow's because they made a direct replacement and Flowmaster's did not.

Again very happy with the quality and dissapointed with the sound.

Just my .02

In my worthless opinion, flowmasters seem to sound better on stock or mild builds, and magnaflows really start to shine on higher performance engines. But then again, sound is subjective and everyone has their own opinion of what sounds right.

I've got the magnaflows for my 302. 600 Holley, Performer intake, hooker comps. When I first put them on I thought they were too quiet. I even replaced the turn down tips with straight tips to see if a little louder. But it seemed it go a little louder after a couple hundred miles. I think they are about just right now especially with over 50 driving (btw wife thinks they are too loud).

hey guys, im thinking about getting the magnaflows for my 70, but im not too sure what kind of headers i should get that will work best, should i just get shorty's, or tri-y's?

plus, how much re-manufacturing, if any, was done to the tubes to make them fit?

I know this is straying a bit from the original question (which I cannot answer) but the 3" Magnaflows might as well be open headers when I stomp on my 408. It's much louder than I expected. I've been thinking about swapping it out for the 2.5" kit to make it quieter.
