Yes it is different with the 98's. I was thrilled when I found only 4 on my 04. Another one of the reasons the 99+ sounds so much better than stock 98's and older.

I don't have any problems with inspection on my exhaust. And actually my car runs alot more efficient not being plugged so badly. Been o/r for now 6 years.
