can someone tell me how much fluid a t-5 holds? 89. couldnt find anything in the search.

this may sound dumb.. but where do you add the fluid at??? (sorry if im hijacking your thread)

There's are drain and fill plugs in the transmission on the passenger side.

2.7 liters? More like 2.7 quarts... lol. It's 2.7 quarts... There are two pipe plugs in the side of the trans.... Passanger side.. Bottom one is drain, top is fill. You're good if you just fill it till it starts coming out of the fill hole.

fluid is personal choice. i prefer synthetics (Redline D4 for me).

when changing fluid, the first plug to remove is the fill plug (the higher one). if you cant get it out, you dont want to drain your old fluid. a 3/8" ratchet wrench fits in the plugs to loosen them.

i prefer to use a length of clear hose and a funnel to fill the trans from the engine bay. some remove the tranny shifter and fill from there (fill till fluid comes out the fill plug). some use pumps from beneath the car. just whatever works for you.

when doing this w/ a floor jack. How much is it going to be off since it will be at an on even hight? I don't have a pump or a long tube, so I'm filling it from the top by removing the shifter.

If you are in the middle of replacing your shifter you can just fill it through the hole too.

I tried filling it through the shifter and it took for-ev-er, the hole is too small. I said screw that and I got a clear hose and a funnel and filled it through the engine bay. You can get a 1/2 dia clear tube at lowes or home depot for cheap.

I use a small push pump that screws into the top of the fluid container. When I was 4 wheeling, I had to change diff and tranny fluid often due to running deep H2O. The pump was cheap and made the job fast, clean and easy...
